The server settings you need depend on which email protocol you choose. In this context, a protocol is a set of rules that defines how data is transferred between devices, email clients (such as Outlook or Apple Mail), and email servers.
The two most common email protocols in use today are POP3 and IMAP.We recommend using IMAP.
IMAP works like cloud storage for your email. Your messages are stored on the email server and can be accessed from any device. If you read an email on your phone, it will be marked as read on your computer as well, and vice versa. This is ideal if you want your messages synced across multiple devices.
POP3 is an older protocol and works more like a traditional mailbox. When you use POP3, your emails are downloaded to your device and removed from the server. This means that if you download and open a message on your computer, you won’t be able to access it from your phone later. This is useful if you only want your email on one device.
