Private dedicated networks

Several providers offer different versions of dedicated private networks. The difference is that Telia can provide a comprehensive end-to-end offering that covers all your communication needs – something that's hard to match in the industry today.

Mobility and mobility requirements – what sets them apart:

Cellular networks – 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G are built for stable connectivity on the move. There's a global standard and dedicated spectrum for each operator to manage radio communication. The logic for handling each device or connection runs through the mobile network, efficiently managing devices as they move between locations. The network tells each device which base station to connect to as it moves.

Wi-Fi – A good, cost-effective option when mobility is limited. It provides excellent local connectivity and works well for stationary connections within range of a single access point. However, Wi-Fi operates on shared, unlicensed spectrum, which means it can be disrupted by nearby networks. It also lacks the handover logic needed for smooth transitions between access points. This creates brief interruptions when switching access points – for example, during a Teams call when moving between rooms in an office or switching from Wi-Fi to the mobile network.

Network slicing gives customers a dedicated portion of the 5G network for their data traffic, free from interference by other users. Each customer can customize their connection based on their specific needs and prioritize their mobile data traffic for optimal performance. This provides a tailored and efficient approach to high quality and reliability.

A mobile network built entirely to your specific requirements for connectivity, availability, and capacity. It can be designed in different configurations based on your needs. The network can be connected to Telia's national network for optimal communication, with redundant or diverse architecture. Or it can operate as a fully private network, completely separate from the public mobile network.

The network can function locally on-site without external connectivity, driven by either availability or security requirements. You get your own dedicated mobile network on your premises, with control over priority and availability, operated by Telia in close collaboration with you. Our experience shows that a private network can often be combined with a dedicated network to enable access to more services and users during normal operations. Regardless of configuration, Telia delivers robust and stable connectivity to help prevent potential disruptions and security risks in your operations.

This is a variant of dedicated network that operates as a fully private network, completely isolated from the public mobile network. It can function locally on-site without external connectivity, driven by either availability or security requirements. You get your own mobile network with full control over priority and availability, operated by Telia in close collaboration with you. A private network can often be combined with a dedicated network to enable access to additional services and users during normal operations.

When you choose a private dedicated network from another provider, they're limited to operating within the 3.7 GHz frequency range – 40 MHz (+40 MHz). This restricted capacity of just 40 MHz (+40 MHz) may not be enough to support the number of connected devices you need. Telia builds using our full frequency spectrum, providing significantly more capacity. When other providers deploy 3.7 GHz across large areas, they require more equipment. We can use lower frequencies that cover larger areas with less infrastructure.

Telia's network supports the massive global volume of mobile phones, mobile broadband modems, and IoT devices. The 3.7 GHz band currently has limited device availability. These smaller volumes also make devices more expensive with other providers.

There's no difference – EMN and Enterprise Mobile Network both refer to our dedicated private networks.
