What are registration services?

"Registration Services" refers to the services offered to Registrants, including new registrations, deregistrations, renewals, transfers, contact information updates, nameserver management, registrar changes, and DS record management.

How do I manage my domain name settings?

You can update settings and information for your domain name in the control panel.

For example, you can update your contact information, add or remove services, manage name servers, and modify DNS configuration, including DS record management for your domain name.

How do I transfer my domain name to another owner?

Accepted Answer

Domain transfers can't be completed through the control panel. The current domain owner must fill out a transfer form and submit it to Telia. Download the form here.

Both the current and new owner must sign the form.

Telia's customer service will then validate the information.

The new domain owner must accept the current registration terms by signing the transfer form.

Transfers are typically completed within five (5) business days from receipt.

How do I cancel my domain name?

You can deregister a domain name immediately or at the end of its registration period. To cancel your domain name, submit a request through the control panel or contact support directly.

How do I transfer an existing domain name from another registrar to Telia?

Accepted Answer

Transferring a domain name means moving its administration from one registrar to another.

When you transfer to Telia, we take over the administration of your domain name and handle the annual renewal. The transfer requires authorization from the domain owner. This is done by obtaining an authorization code from your current registrar.

To complete the transfer, the following conditions must be met:

The domain name must be registered to an account with Telia.
Create an account here (select "Continue without adding a domain name" in step 1).
If you're already a customer, log in to the control panel and request a transfer under Additional domain names - Transfer domain name.
The domain name must be unlocked and active (status OK or Active).
If the domain currently has WHOIS protection enabled, your current registrar must remove it.
You must be listed as the administrative contact with a valid email address. In most cases, an email will be sent to this address for approval before the transfer can be completed.
The domain must have at least 30 days remaining before expiration. The domain must have been registered with the current provider for at least 60 days.

In the control panel, you can check your transfer status under the Administration tab. For all domain names (except .SE, which does not include renewal), the transfer incurs a fee because it automatically generates a renewal. The registration period and expiration date will be extended by one year.

When a transfer is completed, the domain is not automatically delegated to Telia's name servers. We recommend completing a DNS change before initiating a transfer.

If you want to transfer your domain name from Telia to another registrar, you can retrieve an authorization code in the control panel.

Is Telia an accredited Registrar?

Telia acts as the registrar for your domain names and handles registration, billing, and deregistration, as well as automatic renewal.

Telia is directly accredited by Internetstiftelsen to provide these services for .SE domains. For other top-level domains, we use our membership in CORE – Council of Registrars.

How do I change my DNS settings?

If you need to specify the current Telia name servers for our DNS services, do this in the Control Panel by selecting Change Name Servers. A name server change can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate, but it's usually much faster. The current name servers for DNS Standard and DNS Reverse are:

How do I report a domain name violation?

If you've experienced email bombing, spam, domain hijacking, or similar issues, send an email to abuse@telia.com.

Include the following information:

The domain in question
Date and time of the incident
Brief description of what you're reporting

How do I renew my domain name?

Accepted Answer

Telia automatically handles the annual renewal of your domain name. Before each renewal, you'll receive an email notification. If you request not to renew your domain, it will typically be deregistered after a deactivation period.

You can reactivate your domain before the deactivation period ends.

What are my obligations regarding my domain name?

The domain name holder is responsible at all times for ensuring that the chosen domain name does not infringe on the rights of others, violate applicable laws, breach public order, or cause offense.

What is DNSSEC and what are the benefits of using it?

DNSSec is a security feature that strengthens DNS authentication using digital signatures based on public key cryptography. Each DNS zone has a public/private key pair. DNSSec protects the internet from DNS data manipulation and prevents DNS responses from being forged in transit.

DNSSec offers several key benefits:

Authentication: DNSSec uses digital signatures to verify that DNS data hasn't been tampered with by a third party.
Data integrity: DNSSec protects DNS data from being altered in transit.
Trust: DNSSec increases trust in websites that use the technology by protecting against DNS spoofing and other DNS attacks.
