What is eSIM?

eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card built into your device. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, you activate your subscription digitally.

Once activated, you can make calls, send texts, and use mobile data just like you would with a physical SIM card. eSIM is available in many newer mobile phones and tablets, as well as some smartwatches and computers.

Benefits of eSIM for businesses

  • Easier administration

No need to handle and distribute physical SIM cards when a new employee starts or an existing employee changes phones.

  • Faster activation

Once ordered, the subscription can be activated digitally on a compatible device. Employees don't have to wait for a physical SIM card to arrive.

  • Multiple numbers on one phone

On a phone with Dual SIM support, employees can use two subscriptions on the same device – for example, a work number and a personal number.

  • Less physical handling

Since no plastic card needs to be shipped, you reduce the need for SIM cards, packaging, and transportation.

You order the eSIM through MyBusiness and then activate it on your phone or tablet. Our guide includes instructions for both ordering and activation.

Use your smartwatch without your phone

With the Watch Connection add-on, you can use the same number on your phone and a compatible smartwatch. You can make and receive calls, send texts, and use mobile data directly from your watch.

How the service is ordered and activated depends on your company's agreement and which smartwatch you're using. Learn more about activating Watch Connection.
