  1. What do I need to do before I travel to Sweden in order to use my mobile there?

    Sweden uses a GSM network with the frequency 900 and 1800 MHz. Check that your mobile operator and mobile phone can work with this network.

  2. What if I am travelling from the USA, Canada or South America?

    Mobile phones in these regions use a 1900 MHz bandwidth, but this frequency is not active in Sweden. If your mobile is not compatible with 900 and 1800 MHz, you will need to hire or purchase a compatible mobile phone in order to utilize Sweden’s GSM network.

  3. How do I make calls in Sweden?

    • To call a Swedish fixed-line telephone, dial the area code and the telephone number. E.g. 031–123456 (area code 031) or 08–123456 (area code 08).
    • To call a Swedish mobile phone, dial the telephone number. e.g. 070–1234567.
    • To call another country, dial + (the character) or 00, country code, area code without the first zero and then the telephone number. E.g. to call Spain dial +34 xxxxxxxx or 0034 xxxxxxxx.
  4. What should I do if my mobile phone does not work in Sweden?

    You should contact your home operator’s customer service department for assistance.

  5. What number should other people dial to call me when I am in Sweden?

    Your normal mobile number. The mobile network will locate you wherever you may be at that time.

  6. How do I find out if I can use Internet services (GPRS) in Sweden?

    Contact your home operator to inquire whether they have an agreement with Telia regarding internet services.

    You should also check the coverage map to determine GPRS coverage. In order for the map to show GPRS, you must first switch to coverage for Data and Internet at the top right of the coverage map.
